Sonic Welding

Sonic welding uses high frequency vibrations to partially melt and then weld two or more components together.  One application for sonic welding includes plastic-to-plastic assemblies, allowing the elimination of fasteners.  In other applications, sonic inserts are welded into plastic components for improved fastener retention in applications which may require repetitive disassembly/reassembly for field service calls over the life of the product.
